Why isn't residential pickup always free?
Free pickup only pencils out for high-volume commercial loads or specialized high-value metals — think commercial HVAC units, thick copper piping, or server racks — because their recycling value covers the trip. A typical mixed residential pile (patio furniture, an old grill, a couple appliances) takes the same fuel, truck, and time to haul, but usually nets only $5–$10 in raw scrap value. That gap is why standard residential loads get a flat $35 dispatch fee — it covers the trip to a licensed recycler, not a markup.
